American Apparel needed a music system to use in their retails stores
throughout the world that could be centrally controlled, but by contributors
from anywhere on the planet. Viva Radio was
born.
A success? If having your own American Apparel t-shirt line
is any indicator - a resounding YES!
Viva Radio.com was built
from the ground up. Using a flash-based front end (user-side) for some
extra flair, the real power is baked into the administration side of the
application. Using a combination of PHP, MySQL, and XML with a dash of
that AJAX goodness just for good measure, the Viva-Radio web application
powers American Apparel's in-store sound systems throughout the world.
Features include:
- Ability to handle any number of contributors/DJ's
- Calendaring system to schedule shows
- Times zones are taken into consideration for all
shows
- Upload MP3's
- Create and manage playlists
- Reporting of playlists to the RIAA for proper accountability
- Image gallery to make site even "stickier"
Benefits:
- Low cost of ownership
- Aural branding carries over outside of the stores
- Powered to thousands of users
- Complete control over what is played in the stores
(and at what time)
